Co-Enzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance that is found in virtually every cell in the human body. It is an essential factor in the production of cellular energy in the mitochondria, and is a powerful fat-soluble network antioxidant. Extensive research demonstrates that Co-Q10 supports healthy cardiovascular function.Absorption of Co-Q10 has always been a challenge. In fact, well over 60% of orally consumed Co-Q10 is excreted and absorption is not only variable but also dependent on food intake, particularly the fats present in the food. Absorption is lower when Co-Q10 is consumed on an empty stomach and higher when taken with food comprised of high fat content. In order to ensure optimal absorption, AOR has introduced Co-Q-PLUS™ which provides a potent 100mg of Co-Enzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) in a softgel comprised of a superior lipid-based delivery system to ensure maximum absorption. The Co-Q10 is enclosed in tiny microcapsules called liposomes. These are concentric spheres of microscopic membranes, each similar to a simplified cell membrane. Because liposomes readily merge with cell membranes, the nutrients encased in them do not require dissolution in fat, bile secretion, or micelle formation to be absorbed. Instead, liposomes pass almost directly from the gut, through the intestinal wall, and into the blood, bringing their Co-Q10 with them. Liposomes also protect much of the Co-Q10 from being lost to digestive juices.
